Вещество, вызывающее введение алкильной группы в молекулу органического соединения: многие химические мутагены являются А.а. азотистый nitrogen mustard и сернистый иприты sulphur mustard, эпоксиды epoxides, этилметансульфонат ethyl methane sulphonate, циклофосфамид cyclophosphamide, бусульфан busulfan, хлорамбуцил chlorambucil, мелфалан melphalan и т.д.
